You may remember a very poor attempt at a big screen remake of that 50's classic, Sergeant Bilko, with Steve Martin taking over the title role.
Perhaps they would have had more success with the Kirkdale Councillor and Phil Silvers lookalike - who by happy coincidence used to work in the Halewood motor-pool?
